TOCA 2. One of the best racers of the year. |
TOCA 2 The second instalation of the surprise smash hit from last year. With even more options, better graphics, and more cars to choose from this surpasses the high quality of the original by far. If you liked the first game then you will love this superb game which has set the standereds from all of the racing games coming out in 99. The game includes all of the changes that were made in the TOCA Championship last year including new cars, track alterations and regulations. This is an essential by for all die-hard racing fans and all fans of the TOCA championship. It's not quite the Gran Turismo beater that everyone is waiting for but if you have GT already then it is well worth a look at. Bring on number 3.

Colin McRae Rally This is easily the secondbest racer that came out in 98. Like TOCA 2 it is not a GT beater but this comes a very close second. Althought not the best over all racer this is diffinately the best rally sim. It is realistic, has great graphics and the handling system is great. If you like rallying then buy this game, and if you have a steering wheel or a rumble pad then it improves the gaming by miles.CM includes of of the world rally cars (and some vintage cars that can be won), and all of the rally courses from around the world. Like GT Colin McRae has a training mode were you can learn from the basic rallying skills to the expert skills required to fully complete the game. The two player mode is also a great feature, alowing you to race head on or one after the other against the clock. If you don't like rallying and prefere to race against the CPU rather than the clock then this is not the game for you, but if you do like rallying then you can't aford not to have this excellent piece of rallying history. | Colin McRae Rally The Second Best Racer Of 98

Final Fantasy VIII. The 8th episode in this epic series. |
Final Fantasy VIII Surely this is the most awaited game ever, and from the shots that I have seen it looks worth it. After the success of the last game this one is bound to a huge hit in all corners of the world. But after the excellent quality of FF7 will FF8 be an improvment? Well it sertainly looks like it. The all around fighting system looks to be the same, and the FMV still looks great. So apart from the storyline what is different? Well I'll tell you. Now the game is even bigger(giving you even more value for money), your armies walk around with you, and the characters are pre-rendered to look more realistic rather then the big eyed cartoon characters of FF7. With a realise in Japan late this year don't expect to see it over here for ages, but when it comes out I will be the first one at the door of may local games shop to snatch up a copy. See you there! Storyline This is what we know of the storyline so far. The demo is not actually the start of the game. The game supposedly starts off with a FMV sequence where Squall and Seifer are having a duel. In this duel no one can use magic or other special weapons. Seifer breaks this rule by using his gunblade on squall, giving squall the scar on his forehead. It also seems that Rinoa and Seifer may have something to do with Idia. Later on in the game Squall and company are put in a sand prison. They supposedly meet Selphie and Irvine there and help Munba in someway. In return Munba agree's to help you, gaining you 3 new party members. Before or after this Squall and company meet with Laguna, Waord and Kilos. Laguna seems to be helping Squall infiltrate the Galbadian army. Also somewhere in there they meet up with Raijin and Fuijin, who are Seifer's friends or followers or something. Seifer has not been proven to be an antagonist yet, but it has not been proven that he's not one either. However, it is also possible that him and Idia will pull a "Magus" (ChronoTrigger) on you. What this means is that they could be major antagonists for the first part of the game, and help you out for the other half. This is not very likely, but I do believe it is a possibility. Also it's now been proven that there ARE other worlds in this game, making for many locations to explore. This has been brought about by the unveiling of Laguna's mech/spaceship/plane, the "Ragnarock". This could mean that the Galbadian Army is not on Squalls world, much like Solaris and Shebat in Xenogears. Squall and his friends live in the country/world known as "Balamb". In Balamb, people us the train as a primary source of transportation, but a car can also be used. Squall and friends attend the school known as the "Balamb Garden". Balamb Garden is a training school for warriors and mages. When a student turns 15, they are eligible to enter the special forces known as "Seed". If they do not pass the exam to get into Seed, they are expelled from Balamb Garden altogether. Balamb is at war with the Galbadians. The Galbadians may live on a completely different planet. The cause of the war is not known. However, it could be a war incited by "Idia". However, "Idia" could be on Balamb's side or Galbadians side, or possibly both. Rinoa herself may be Idias "choice" for the new witch. Idia was given the power she has now by the previous witch of their world. Idia may not be responsible for her actions, as she could be controlled by a higher being. We also know that Rinoa is the leader of a Anti-Gorvernment Faction called Owl in the woods. It is based in a Town?/forest? called Timber. Seifer apparently helps out with it??? Squall has a dream about Laguna, Kiros and Ward. What this means I have no idea.
